Victoria's Bio


Victoria Serda lives in Port Elgin, Ontario, where she lives with her husband, Jamie, and her daughter, Corrina. Victoria earned a Bachelor of Independent Studies from the University of Waterloo, where she specialized in Democratic Education. She is currently works as a Sustainability Connector for the Grey Bruce Sustainability Network.
Victoria was an elected Municipal Councillor on the Saugeen Shores council from 2006-2010 and founder and President of the Saugeen Sustainability Volunteer and Resource Centre non-profit. She has been an active environmental advocate for more than two decades, including five years as an administrator of a 300 acre organic farm in Umpqua, Oregon. She was the Co-Chair of the Green Party of Canada's Biennial General Meeting in August, 2010, and was the Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Ontario from 2006 through 2007. She was the Chair of its Campaign Committee for the Provincial Election in 2007, as well as being the Green Party candidate for Huron-Bruce federally in 2006 and provincially in 2007.
In early 2007, Victoria was one of 21 Canadians trained by Al Gore to give his Inconvenient Truth climate change presentation. In the first two years, she gave over 120 presentations to more than 21,000 people across the province, earning her the designation of Lead Mentor for The Climate Project Canada. Together, she and Corrina have completed 160 presentations to 36,000 people, and both attended Al Gore's Solutions training based on his book "Our Choice" in Nashville from June 26-28, 2010. She also conducted training for Canadian presenters in Al Gore's new slideshow based on the 24 Hours of Reality deck from 2011. Victoria was also a blogger for The Hour/Cisco/GreenNexxus One Million Acts of Green.
Victoria also stepped forward to run for Mayor of Saugeen Shores in 2010, and received 21% of the popular vote.
